A Moment to Breathe
Fortnightly reflections on mindfulness and everyday calm.
The Gentle Art of Doing Nothing
I spent some time with a girlfriend recently, enjoying a little much-needed downtime.
As often happens, our conversation eventually turned to work, plans and all the things we feel we should be doing.
And afterwards, I found myself thinking about how difficult it can sometimes be to simply *be*.
We're so accustomed to filling our days, making plans and ticking things off our never-ending lists that doing nothing can almost feel uncomfortable.
But perhaps not every moment needs a purpose.
Perhaps sitting with a friend, enjoying a conversation or simply watching the world go by is enough.
I've been reminding myself lately that slowing down doesn't mean falling behind.
Sometimes, it's simply giving ourselves permission to enjoy the moment we're in.
🪷 A little invitation for today:
Find a few minutes when you don't need to achieve anything.
Put the to-do list aside, notice what's around you and allow yourself to simply be.
No expectations. No pressure.
Just this moment.
Until next time, take a moment for yourself.
With warmth,
Julie 💜
